the main thing i'd LOVE to know is an effective way to remove cooch from gardens:P 'Most' jobs I get are to weed gardens...and by weed they generally mean pull cooch out. Knowing how cooch works I know just pulling it out is only removing it temporarily and I'd love to be able to do something a little more permanent (even though the grass may grow back later)
Is there any chemical or machine that easily (or simply effectively) works?
Their is no easy way of getting rid of couch unless the home owner wants to start over with lawn and garden. But you can control it with various herbicides. Don't use roundup (or anything with glyphosate as the active ingredient) as you will kill most of the lawn and the garden. It is a systemic herbicide which means it kills the whole plant. If it drifts in the wind you are likely to kill those cherished roses. What you need is a herbicide that will kill only the areas it touches. There is one that I used to use and would be effective within a few hours of application. It is very strong and requires suiting up. It can;t remember the name of it off the top of my head. I will let you know as soo as it comes to me.
The herbicide is called Sprayseed. It contains an active ingredient called Paraquat which is classified as an S7 (a dangerous chemical). You will have to source it from an ag shop as Bunnings will not be allowed to stock it. Also, when at the ag shop get some further advice on using it and what applications it is suitable for. This is because information changes over time and I haven't used the stuff for a few years now. Hope that helps.
